Inside Composio and ComposioPro: DEMI’s Pre- and Post-Treatments for Colour and Perm Services
Composio is DEMI Cosmetics’ range of pre- and post-treatments for salon hair colour and perm services, combining hair science with DEMI’s proprietary Complex fixation technology. The name comes from “composite”, meaning something made up of several elements. DEMI designed the range to help salons respond to a wider range of damage and techniques, and to broaden the possibilities of hair design.
This guide is for salon professionals in Malaysia and covers the two pre- and post-treatment lines, Composio and Composio Pro: what each item does, which part of the hair it focuses on, where it fits in a colour or perm service, and how the two lines relate to each other. These are treatments used before and after a service. They are not colour or perm products themselves.

Where Composio and Composio Pro Fit in the Composio Range
Composio is made up of three lines, each with a different role. Each line can be chosen on its own to suit the service and the client.
How Composio Pre- and Post-Treatments Care for the CMC, Cortex and Cuticle
Colour and perm services work inside the hair. According to DEMI, repeated services damage the inner structure, and components the hair needs can be stripped out. Composio pre-treatments are applied before the colour or perm to replenish these components, while post-treatments are used after the chemicals have been rinsed out to condition the hair.
Each item focuses on a particular part of the hair:

Composio and Composio Pro: How the Two Lines Relate
DEMI lists Composio and Composio Pro side by side within the same brand. All eight items are salon treatments for professional use only, supplied as refills: 600mL for each treatment and 600g for Composio Pro Cuticle. The bottles shown in DEMI’s product photos are empty refill containers, sold separately; each product below lists its compatible dispenser.
The eight items are not designed to be used one after another in a single service. Salon professionals choose the items that suit the client’s hair condition and the service being carried out.
The Composio Process for Colour and Perm Services
DEMI’s published process for the Composio line changes with the level of damage. The pre-treatment is applied to wet hair before the colour or perm, and the post-treatment is used after the chemicals have been rinsed out.

After the colour or perm chemicals have been rinsed out, Composio Scavenger is worked through all of the hair at the shampoo bowl, with no processing time, before the final rinse.
Guide amounts for medium-length hair:
- Composio Coltex and Composio CMC: 10–15mL (three sprays per section)
- Composio Scavenger: 10mL (10 pumps)
Composio CMC, Coltex and Scavenger: Pre- and Post-Treatments for Colour and Perm
Composio CMC A 600mL
Replenishes CMC components and gives moisture to the hair. Used as a pre-treatment on its own for low damage, or layered over Composio Coltex for moderate damage.
- Size: 600mL refill.
- Key ingredients: hydrolysed collagen, hydrolysed eggshell membrane, ceramide, amino acids and cationised trehalose.
Compatible dispenser (sold empty): Composio CMC/CX Trigger
Composio Coltex A 600mL
Replenishes cortex components, giving the hair elasticity, firmness and body. Used as a pre-treatment for moderate damage, followed by Composio CMC.

- Key ingredients: hydrolysed keratin, hydrolysed eggshell membrane and hydrolysed collagen.
Compatible dispenser (sold empty): Composio CMC/CX Trigger
Composio Scavenger A 600mL
Breaks down and removes residual oxidant, conditioning the hair after perm and colour services. Used as a post-treatment after the chemicals have been rinsed out.

- Key ingredients: peanut skin extract and an antioxidant ingredient of natural origin.

ComposioPro CMC-Delta, CMC-Beta, CX-Keratin, CX-Matrix and Cuticle
DEMI describes two Complex-forming care technologies in its Composio catalogue. Each is shown with a pair of ComposioPro items layered together.
CMC Care: CMC-Delta and CMC-Beta
DEMI calls its CMC care WO emulsification. Hydrophilic proteins and lipids tend to be stripped out easily even when they are replenished. When CMC-Delta and CMC-Beta are layered, they form a water-in-oil (WO) emulsion inside the hair, which settles in the CMC. By bringing damaged CMC closer to its normal state, this care is designed to help chemicals penetrate more evenly and to bring the hair’s moisture level back into balance.
In DEMI’s testing, hair given repeated colour services with CMC-Delta and CMC-Beta as a pre-treatment showed less outflow of CMC components between the cuticle layers, and its CMC structure was maintained.
Composio Pro CMC-Delta A 600mL
Designed to help repair the damaged delta layer of the CMC and give moisture to the hair.
- Size: 600mL refill.
- Key ingredients: hydrolysed hyaluronic acid, hydrolysed eggshell membrane, hydrolysed collagen, sodium hyaluronate and amino acids.
Compatible dispenser (sold empty): ComposioPro CMC-D Foamer
Composio Pro CMC-Beta B 600mL
Designed to help repair the damaged beta layer of the CMC and give softness to the hair.
- Size: 600mL refill.
- Key ingredients: sunflower seed oil, a phytosterol-like ingredient, ceramide and grape seed oil.

Cortex Care: CX-Keratin and CX-Matrix
DEMI calls its cortex care hydrophobisation. PPT replenished in the cortex tends to flow out easily, so this care makes it less soluble in water and fixes it inside the hair. When CX-Keratin and CX-Matrix are layered, they form a complex inside the hair. By bringing damaged cortex closer to its normal state, this care is designed to help chemicals penetrate more evenly and to bring back the hair’s natural firmness, body and elasticity.
In DEMI’s testing, hair given repeated perms with CX-Keratin and CX-Matrix as a pre-treatment showed less outflow of interstitial material from the cortex cells and less damage to the CMC.
Composio Pro CX-Keratin A 600mL
Replenishes interstitial components within the cortex, giving the hair elasticity and firmness.

Cuticle Care: Composio Pro Cuticle
ComposioPro Cuticle is a post-treatment that forms a cuticle-like layer to help smooth the hair surface and add shine.
