Flowdia is the flagship hair care brand from DEMI Cosmetics, launched in 2011 after seven years of development. It is built around one idea: damage is not spread evenly through the hair, so care should not be applied evenly either. Flowdia repairs the damaged areas selectively, and works on the internal bonds behind the waviness and frizz that develop over time.

A Brand Built on Hair Science
Four decades of hair research
The DEMI Hair Science Laboratory was established in 1984 and has spent around forty years studying hair and scalp. Its work covers the structure of Japanese hair and scalp as well as the agents and ingredients used on them, carried out with research institutions and working hairdressers.
The "memory" of damage
On long hair, the ends were formed more than four years ago, and the hair carries the damage accumulated over that time. Under an electron microscope, that damage is visible at four levels of the hair structure.
Damage accumulated over time can affect the hair in several interconnected ways, including reduced internal hair fibre density, loss of shine, colour fading, reduced perm definition, waviness, split ends and dryness.
According to DEMI's hair science research, accumulated damage can disrupt the hair's internal bonds and alter its shape. A hair fibre that originally has a round cross-section may become more distorted toward the ends, contributing to waviness, frizz and unwanted volume. Flowdia's care technologies were developed to address these damage-related changes.
The Three Care Technologies
Balneid System
Damage leaves internal cavities in the hair. The Balneid System wraps care ingredients in a balloon-like structure so they stay inside those cavities instead of washing out. Because it fills only the areas that need repair, the hair is left feeling light rather than weighed down, while still holding together at the ends.
In salon treatments this goes a step further: based on the stylist's consultation, repair ingredients are selected for the individual client and formed into a personalised care balloon.
Bonded System
The Bonded System works on the distorted internal bonds behind waviness and frizz, in three stages — penetration, loosening and realignment, then fixing in place. DEMI's own reactive amino acid complex drives these stages in sequence, so hair can be brought back to a more manageable form while keeping its natural softness.
Micelle Shot
With age, hair tends to grow in with lower keratin density from the root. Micelle Shot is designed for this. It uses a solubilised oil keratin (Laurdimonium Hydroxypropyl Hydrolyzed Keratin, a hair repair ingredient) developed to blend readily into mature hair and penetrate deeply, then form micelles inside the hair to help restore keratin density. This technology sits behind the Age Care line.
Choosing the Right Line
The salon treatment and the home care range are designed to work together. DEMI suggests receiving the salon treatment approximately once every two to three months and using the appropriate shampoo, treatment and leave-in care at home to help maintain the result. The five lines below run across both, so the line chosen in the salon carries through to what the client uses at home.

In-Salon: The Four-Step Treatment
Flowdia's salon treatment — the ST range — is a four-step system, customised for each client after consultation. Each step is carried out with its own numbered agent, from ST 1 through to ST 4.

| Step 1 | Care ingredients that control softness and elasticity are delivered into the damaged areas, creating the base for the finished texture. |
| Step 2 | The Balneid System seals the selected ingredients into the damaged cavities. Steps 1 and 2 together form the client's personalised care balloon, after which the hair is rinsed. |
| Step 3 | A water-holding shield locks in moisture and repairs the cuticle, useful on heavily damaged hair that needs to feel smoother. |

The 50g size of the Step 4 agents is intended as a take-home item. Used once or twice a week in place of the usual treatment, it helps clients hold the salon finish between appointments.

Home Care: Damage Care Line
The Damage Care line is chosen by hair thickness and the texture the client is after. Beauty Garage Malaysia carries three of these lines.
What is in the formula
The shampoos combine hair repair ingredients with scalp-protecting ingredients, so the scalp keeps its moisture through the wash:
- Hair care ingredients: Hydrolysed keratin derived from cashmere goat and hydrolysed eggshell membrane are included as hair repair ingredients, while hydrolysed collagen provides moisture. Together, these ingredients are used to care for melanin cracks associated with hair damage.
- Scalp protection: Apple fruit cell culture extract, sophora root extract, honey, tea leaf extract, glucosyl hesperidin.
The treatments seal in what the shampoo has delivered and address the internal irregularity behind waviness:
- Sealing: Sodium alginate.
- Waviness: Carboxymethyl cysteine lysine, lysine HCl.
- Moisturising and emollient care: Eight amino acids, ceramide NG and di(phytosteryl/octyldodecyl) lauroyl glutamate provide moisturising care, while argan kernel oil acts as an emollient.
The Damage Care line is scented with a floral bouquet of three roses, lily of the valley and magnolia.
Sleek Light
For hair that tangles easily, leaving it smooth and glossy. Suited to fine and normal hair where a light finish is wanted.

Home Care: Age Care Line
The Age Care line is built on Micelle Shot and is aimed at the changes clients notice with age — hair that no longer holds volume, or that has turned coarse and harder to manage. Two lines are available, split by hair thickness, and both are scented with a herbal floral rather than the Damage Care bouquet.
Grand Stretch
For fine mature hair that has become difficult to volumise, for an airy, glossy finish with more body and resilience.

Leave-In Treatments
Leave-in treatments remain on the hair without rinsing and are designed to support hair care against everyday external damage while helping manage the finished style. Three are available at Beauty Garage Malaysia.
Flowdia Repair Emulsion 75g
Works on the internal irregularity behind waviness, for hair that falls into place and holds a manageable shape. It is also a useful way to extend the results of a salon treatment.
- Size: 75g.
- Suited to: Clients with waviness or curl, clients who want to cut down their morning styling time, and clients who use irons or wands regularly.
How to use: Apply to towel-dried hair, working one half of the head at a time. Spread the product across the palms, then apply from the mid-lengths to the ends where waviness and curl are most noticeable, working it in thoroughly at the problem areas. Dry the roots first, then run fingers through the mid-lengths and ends while directing the dryer from above. Once the hair is fully dry, finish with an iron or curling iron. According to DEMI's recommended method, applying heat at this stage helps maintain a manageable, glossy finish.
The home care routine
Repair Emulsion works through form control, for hair that is easier to manage with a glossy finish. DEMI positions it as a way to help the salon result last and hold the target texture between appointments, and it sits at Step 3 of the daily routine below.
